Guess who made a sneaky Lush purchase online and then got super excited when it finally arrived after stalking the postman for about a week…….If you guessed me then you would be absolutely correct! *smiles excitedly bc new smellies & Lush goodness*
After quite a while browsing their huge range, I picked out 4 products that I thought I would really like and so far I’m not disappointed! I got a “Unicorn Horn” which is from their Valentine’s Day collection, a “Dragon’s Egg” bath bomb, their “Celestial facial” moisturiser and also “Tangled” which is a hot oil hair treatment specifically for knotted, frizzy hair which admittedly I have been struggling with lately.
Unicorn Horn (£4.25) – As you can see from the picture this is a very colourful one, attractive to the eyes but also to the nose with its sweet lavender smell. According to the website this bubble bar has Neroli oil in it which is known to increase serotonin levels in the brain leaving us feeling much more relaxed and cheery after a long soak 🙂
Dragon’s Egg (£3.50) – Being honest, I picked this bath bomb purely because of the name. It sounded pretty awesome and after using it today I can say I loved it! It has quite a sweet lemon-y smell which reminded me of those hard boiled lemon sweets you can get and was pleasantly surprised to find out that this somewhat bland looking bath bomb had an orange centre, much like a real egg, leaving my bath a golden orange colour with lots of bubbles!
Tangled (£6.50) – I really can’t wait to try this one out. This product stood out to me when browsing online because I have very tangled hair at the moment and I just can’t seem to get rid of it! I can imagine it will be hard to get this oil out of my hair afterwards but I am excited to try it.
Celestial (£12.95) – Pictured below is my favourite of the products I bought, the Celestial moisturiser. It smells heavenly and feels so smooth and silky on my face without being oily. I love it!
I hope you have enjoyed this little Lush post as much as I have enjoyed receiving these products! What would you personally recommend from their collection? Let me know what you think 🙂
Benefit – notoriously known for their cute packaging and great quality products, had been a brand I was been wanting to try for a long time. I hadn’t though, mostly due to their products being more high end than typical drug store buys. However having recently run out of foundation, concealer and primer I decided it was time to treat myself.
In walks Benefit’s How To Look The Best At Everything complexion kit which was an absolute winner for me. I chose the Light kit (you can also choose from Medium and Dark) and was quite happy with the shades included. I can also say after using this kit a few times, it doesn’t disappoint and is quite helpful in deciding if you would buy the full sized products or not (I would!)
With a tips & tricks pamphlet in the lid, and a mirror all contained in a cute travel sized, book shaped box it is the perfect kit for beginners trying to perfect their make up style, for professionals who want a handy kit to throw into their handbag which includes everything needed for a flawless base or for those (like myself) who just want to try out some products before investing in the full sized version.
Included in this kit:
- The Porefessional – Primer
- Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Brightening Makeup – Foundation
- Boi-ing – Concealer in 2 shades to create your perfect match
- Hello Flawless Powder – Powder
Overall, I have found this cute little box of samples well worth the €35 I spent on it. I have used it 4 times now and the mini Hello Flawless foundation (in Ivory – “I’m pure for sure“) is still over half full which is impressive for a sample sized product. There is also a decent amount of the Boi-ing concealer left which I reckon will last me maybe a few months! I have put their Hello Flawless foundation and powder on my Christmas wishlist and will more than likely purchase a few more of their products in the coming future. Have you got any favourites in the Benefit range that you would recommend? Let me know in the comments below.

Guess who decided to mix Christmas shopping for my mom and friends with buying some new make up products for myself, *hint hint* it was me.
With Christmas fast approaching (15 days to go now! The excitement!) it made me realize just how unprepared I was present – wise for my friends and family. I also realised I had run out of some make up products, mainly foundation, concealer & primer. So essentially I had lost my face (a bit like in that episode of Doctor Who where the TVs stole the peoples’ faces… although maybe not quite as dramatic). So I decided to order a few things from boots.ie and etsy.com!
Here are some of the things I bought:
Having wanted some Real Techniques brushes for a long time now I kinda went crazy buying them. I got the Duo Fibre set (the white ones), the Eye Starter Set (the purple ones) and a foundation brush (the gold one).
Benefit’s “How to Look the Best at Everything” complexion kit which includes sample sizes of their primer, foundation, 2 shades of concealer and a face powder. There’s 3 different sets to choose from to suit different skin tones and I went for the lightest one. I also picked a sample size of their “Bad Gal” mascara which was €6.50 as I reckoned it’d go a long way and didn’t want to spend €23 on the full sized product!
Here’s the start of what I’m getting my mom for Christmas. Really hoping she doesn’t stumble across my blog or there goes the element of surprise! Both of the shows – Mary Poppins and Lord Of The Dance I will be attending with her and I’m v excited, especially for Mary Poppins! I can’t wait!
The last thing I received in the post yesterday I cannot show to you guys yet because it is a surprise for someone. But I can tell you that I got it on Etsy.com. More details about this mystery gift will be revealed probably after Christmas.
I’m really excited to use these products/brushes and to wrap those gifts for my mom and give them to her on Christmas day! Let me know in the comments if you’ve got any of these items and what you think.
*Cue my first beauty post*
So unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, you should be aware that what has become a staple in many make up collections are Urban Decay’s Naked Palettes. Each in the original collection (Naked, Naked 2 & Naked 3) boast a sleek portable case design, a double ended brush (that is actually pretty great compared to the brushes you get in some palettes) and a selection of 12 different shades that compliment each other perfectly. It is easy to see that there is a palette that will suit pretty much anyone from make up enthusiasts, to teenagers trying out make up for the first time! Priced at around €46/£37 it is definitely a make up investment heading towards the more pricey side of things, especially for us college students who are struggling to budget (I know I am!) but I can confidently say that they are so worth the money!
Of the two I own (Naked 2 & 3), I have to say that my favorite which I received as a present for my 18th birthday from my best friend is….
For anyone unfamiliar with this palette here’s a few pictures I took quickly of the eye shadows included. My personal favourites from this fabulous palette are “Suspect” and “Snakebite” which go great together and add a subtle sparkle and shimmer to my everyday make up.
Overall, I believe that investing in an Urban Decay Naked Palette will be one of the best things you ever do in your life (slight exaggeration maybe perhaps) if you’re interested in make up and beauty. I bought my Naked 3 2 years ago and used it nearly every day up until I got my Naked 2 a few months ago and I’ve only hit the pan in the lightest shade that I normally used as a base. What I’m trying to say is, if you are looking for a great eye shadow palette that is worth the money and will last a long time then look no further! Make your choice. I have my eye on the new Gwen Stefani palette at the moment (Santaaaa plsss)
