Staying Positive

Staying positive at any time of the year seems to be a challenge for many. But I myself have found that in the height of winter’s dark days and underlying gloom, it can become even harder. During the winter months we tend to be also at the height of our work load, with Christmas approaching, exams looming and the days getting shorter. Overall this equals lower moods and heightened stress levels. It’s no wonder that depression and suicide rates reach all time highs at this time of year. With this in mind I think it is important to highlight the need to take care of not only ourselves but those around us especially at this time of year.

This year one of my (long overdue) resolutions is to work on my mental health and the first step I am taking is to be more positive in my everyday life. I personally think that a positive mindset is the key to good mental health and am willing to prove it to you by the end of 2016 when I hopefully will have reached my goal. So stay tuned!

I’m leaving below a little list of things I’m going to do for this month and each month I will add more things to the list and post a little update on how I’m doing so that by the end of the year I will have changed my lifestyle in little ways that will effect my mental health in a huge way.

Staying Positive January Goals & Tasks:

  1. Continue writing my “What Made Me Smile” posts every week.
  2. Pick a quote each day in order to inspire myself and apply it to that day.
  3. Donate money and help others whenever I can.
  4. If I make mistakes (which I do all the time), take a deep breath and learn from them.

These are my January goals & tasks! Will you be joining me in my journey to good mental health? Leave your own ideas on being positive below for everyone to see! Together we can do this 🙂 ❤

Christmas Day

Happy Christmas everyone!

I hope that this post is finding you well and that you are having a wonderful Christmas day so far (I know I am). This is a quick little update because I just wanted to wish ye all a very merry Christmas and to thank you. When I started this blog on a whim (while procrastinating from physics study) I never thought anyone would read it, or that I’d have over 700 views in just a few weeks or hit 60 followers which is pretty surreal in itself! I hope you will continue to follow me on this little endeavour of mine. I love you all! ❤

P.S. What is your favourite part of Christmas? While the presents are always great, mine is genuinely getting to spend some quality time with my family. Again, merry Christmas & thank you for reading.

Urban Decay’s Naked Palettes

*Cue my first beauty post*

So unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, you should be aware that what has become a staple in many make up collections are Urban Decay’s Naked Palettes. Each in the original collection (Naked, Naked 2 & Naked 3) boast a sleek portable case design, a double ended brush (that is actually pretty great compared to the brushes you get in some palettes) and a selection of 12 different shades that compliment each other perfectly. It is easy to see that there is a palette that will suit pretty much anyone from make up enthusiasts, to teenagers trying out make up for the first time! Priced at around €46/£37 it is definitely a make up investment heading towards the more pricey side of things, especially for us college students who are struggling to budget (I know I am!) but I can confidently say that they are so worth the money!

Of the two I own (Naked 2 & 3), I have to say that my favorite which I received as a present for my 18th birthday from my best friend is….

For anyone unfamiliar with this palette here’s a few pictures I took quickly of the eye shadows included. My personal favourites from this fabulous palette are “Suspect” and “Snakebite” which go great together and add a subtle sparkle and shimmer to my everyday make up.

Overall, I believe that investing in an Urban Decay Naked Palette will be one of the best things you ever do in your life (slight exaggeration maybe perhaps) if you’re interested in make up and beauty. I bought my Naked 3 2 years ago and used it nearly every day up until I got my Naked 2 a few months ago and I’ve only hit the pan in the lightest shade that I normally used as a base. What I’m trying to say is, if you are looking for a great eye shadow palette that is worth the money and will last a long time then look no further! Make your choice. I have my eye on the new Gwen Stefani palette at the moment (Santaaaa plsss)

Have you got a favourite Naked palette? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading.
